Molly MacDonald ’15: Turning Opportunity Into Impact
When it came to choosing a college, Molly MacDonald ’15 considered her options carefully. After her first trip to Kutztown University, she said, “My parents fell in love with it first!”
However, Molly was offered the chance to stay overnight at KU, and the experience showed her all the opportunities the university had to offer. She was interested in studying business, but also graphic design; “KU had both,” she said. After seeing more of the campus, Molly had to agree with her parents. “I knew I was where I was meant to be.”
While art remains a hobby to this day, Molly declared a business major in the spring of 2012. As she studied, she built close friendships with teammates on the Women’s Cross Country, Women’s Indoor Track and Field, and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field teams. Coach Ray Hoffman still keeps in touch.
After graduating from KU, Molly obtained an MBA at Marywood University in 2017. From there, she quickly fell into the world of marketing and now works as the Senior Client Engagement Manager at Altitude Marketing in Emmaus, PA. It’s been a joy that she ended up working with graphic designers.
“I built a lot of confidence at Kutztown,” Molly said, reflecting on where she is today.
For the last six years, Molly has given back to KU during the Kutztown University Foundation’s 1866 Minute Giving Challenge. For 1,866 minutes each year, alumni and friends can choose to make a gift to an area close to the heart. For Molly, that has always been athletics.
“It allowed me to be where I am today,” she said, recalling traveling with teammates and so much more. It’s the reason she continues to pay it forward. “Athletics prepared me to use my time wisely in the working world. KU gave me a chance to test my limits and excel.”
