The Old Main Society was established to encourage, support, and celebrate deferred gifts that ensure our university and foundation remain vital and vibrant for those who come after us.
Deferred charitable gifts, also known as planned gifts or legacy gifts, offer the greatest opportunity for the foundation and the donor while building long-term financial stability for Kutztown University. These gift arrangements are a way to reflect your values by leaving a lasting philanthropic legacy, as well as offering the opportunity to make a significant impact on a student’s experience. In addition, they often have considerable tax advantages for the donor and/or family members.
If you are interested in learning more about planned gifts or wish to share with us that you have already made a bequest to benefit Kutztown University in your estate plans, please contact us at 610-683-4110 or together@kuf.org

Types of Gifts
Unrestricted gifts enable the KU Foundation to provide scholarships, support alumni activities, and engage students, faculty, and staff. Please support the Annual Fund today!
Endowed gifts are invested in perpetuity, and the income earned thereon is expended to fulfill each fund’s designated purpose in accordance with the Foundation’s endowment income spending policy.
A minimum gift of $25,000 is required to create a new endowed fund. A newly endowed fund will be invested for one year before income may be awarded. The full amount of $25,000 may be paid over a period of up to five years; however, no income will be awarded until the fund reaches the fully-endowed level. Gifts of any size may be added to existing endowed funds.
Donors may earmark endowment gifts for specific scholarships, programs, colleges, or departments, or they may be unrestricted, in which case the income can be used flexibly to support the University’s areas of greatest need.
Restricted gifts are intended to support a specific purpose as stipulated by the donor and are fully expendable in support of that purpose. These gifts can be made for scholarships, academic departments, programs, athletics, capital building projects, events, awards, and activities. For assistance or more information, call 610-683-4110.
Planned gifts can allow you to leave a lasting legacy at the University by enabling you to make a larger gift than you may have thought possible. In addition to including the Foundation in your estate plans, there are a number of other planned gift options that may be available to suit your specific philanthropic goals as well as your personal financial and tax plans. If you’re considering a planned gift for KU, please contact us at 610-683-4110 or ogeka@kuf.org.
