BACK TO BEING GOLDEN
- by Dan Price '04
Back in 2018, as our KU Alumni Council was going through a transition, one member was passionately pushing to create a Beach Bash event to engage Alumni. While Kutztown University has many alums from the Jersey and Philly area, it also has many people that aren’t familiar with the local history and importance of what it means to go “down the shore.” This event took many twists and turns during its creation, but eventually, the inaugural Beach Bash took place in June 2019.
Many Alumni Council members attended, as well as many newly engaged alumni. There was momentum building around this event and others as our Alumni Council shifted to its current format. The work of staff was finding a rhythm in working with our wonderful alumni.
Over the last year, that momentum for personal connection has shifted to a uniquely different space—a world of Zoom, Facetime, air hugs and fist bumps. As we begin to emerge into our new normal, we enter a period of transition.
This transition is going to involve the new norms we’ve grown accustomed to, as well as an “eased pace” with how we begin to engage with others in the real world.
It is with that spirit of engagement that we return down the shore on Saturday, June 12th, to connect with our Kutztown Alumni. The sight of alumni in maroon shirts under the golden sun will be a warm reminder of what we’ve missed and what we value. We hope that you will join us at this year’s Beach Bash to reconnect or connect with new alums for the very first time.
It’s Good to Be Golden.
